Project: Polluted Port

This level design project called “Polluted Port” is focused on using spatial design and player psychology to subtlety guide the player from location the next. It uses techniques such as Lighting, Colour and Enemy placement to influence the players movements.
The gameplay is stealth focused so the player will proceed slowly and attempt to avoid combat as much as possible.

This project was pushing me out of my comfort zone as most level designs i previously made focused on First-Person games. This level was focused on a stealth but also platforming with a third-person camera. I had to adjust a lot of previous knowledge as a third-person camera was a lot to design with in mind as the player could use the camera to look further than attended in comparison to FPS games.

Despite the challenges I faced, I learnt a lot about creating levels for different types of genres for games. I also improved my optimization skills as object occlusion was much more difficult to manage as the camera could render much more within a scene.
